Summer Festivals / Music Camps / Opportunities
There are many, many summer festivals / music camps available for high school students to apply to. Often times, these opportunities provide rich experiences in music that can't be duplicated during the regular school season. Many of them provide a look into what it's like to be a music major, and therefore should be pursued if that's a avenue that student wishes to follow (many college professors teach at these camps and use them as recruiting tools.) Above all, these are opportunities to meet other student musicians of the same age, and develop connections that last many years.
